Dream #8 - 8.30.10 - 8.31.10

Last night I was sniping people from my apartment window. I was working hard on getting a cleavage shot, for some sick reason. After killing a few people, I was being interrogated, but I was now Dr. House. Nobody could get me to admit or talk about shooting people, so I was free to go. I felt really bad about how many people I had killed, and found out it made me unlucky: I lost a lot of money in the casino.

This is some sick, twisted version of my recent happenings (Vegas, playing Mafia 2, and watching a lot of House).

Dream #7 - 8.11.10 - 8.12.10

Kevin, his girlfriend Lis, and I went to the pool I used to go to all summer long when I was a kid and teenager. We started off watching people play volleyball on some chairs, before playing some basketball and then volleyball ourselves. Afterwards, we decided it was a good time for a dip in the pool. It was getting pretty close to dark because I remember the weather being kind of cool, almost like it was about to storm. It wasn't anything exceptional, so that's all there is to tell :(

Dream #6 - 8.??.10 - 8.??.10

In my dream tonight I was (I think) the cameraman filming the new season opener of Dexter. How do I know? I was following the character around in the position that the camera would be for the episode, and it almost felt like I was him (cue Jim Rome's clip of "UH OH"). Dexter was off to his house to meet up with Rita's sister, who happens to be her older twin. This sister was taking the kid's away, probably because she didn't trust Dexter. However, as I watched the kids get in the car, my friend Lia was with them. I don't know what this all means. Sorry if this prophetic dream ends up spoiling the upcoming season of Dexter (I promise I don't have advanced knowledge).

Dream #5 - 8.7.10 - 8.8.10

Two separate dream sessions today:

In the first session I was working in my lab (oh lord) again. I don't think I was doing anything of particular importance, but just kind of goofing around. Ryan was there working too (don't know what on), and I had pushed a table up against the door when I heard two of my lab mates, Dave and Adam, coming down the hall. They stopped by before heading off to Chipotle, but didn't offer us anything. I was excited to charge them the lab fee for going to Chipotle without asking if anybody else wanted some. There was a brief interlude of some woman walking around in a library (it seemed like a TV show). It was real dark and creepy, when suddenly she got stabbed in the back of leg and was lying there bleeding. I sent somebody to look for her, but the next thing I knew I was on the couch in the lab watching House. I was also nursing a bottle of Windsor whiskey, planning on finishing the whole thing. I got pretty close before I decided it was time to go home, but I decided I shouldn't drive (it was only like a mile, but after that much whiskey, I had to be pretty plowed). I called Kevin to pick me up. The next thing I know, I'm at my home in Reisterstown. I walk out of the kitchen, to the front yard and see my car parked on the lawn. I felt terrible because it meant I had driven blackout drunk home...until I woke up.

---

The next session of dreams had me being a character in a mafia game. The first level involved me handing an officer a fake ID, which I steal back, and ride in a getaway car. The car couldn't escape, and we're supposed to drive off a cliff to blow it up. After several unsuccessful attempts to do this and get rid of the evidence, I'm suddenly switched back to my hometown. I'm driving to HS with my friend Jeff, when suddenly my car stops working. We get out to examine, I take off my shirt (naturally), and we head the rest of the way to school. I realize there I need to get my car before the first class (5 mins), because I need my shirt back. I tried to recruit help in home room, but after a few rejections, some kid offered his car. We walked out to the parking lot, and he didn't have a car, just a box marked "Lance Armstrong" (he was not Lance Armstrong, I think it was a floormate from sophomore year, Prinz). He got in the box perfectly normally, so I thought there was something magical about it (it is a dream after all), and I got in to. It was like a hover craft, except we had no real control of it. We just kind of flew side to side for a while before I told him I'd just run and get it because I didn't want him to be late. I was attempting to cross the street back to the school when the dream ended.

Dream #4 - 8.6.10 - 8.7.10

I actually had three separate dream sessions, with very different dreams.

My first dream mixed my HS life and my college life. Apparently, it was SAT day, but for some reason everyone taking the test was already in college and didn't actually need to take the test. A bunch of us were taking the test in my old room, in the dark. The only person I remember being there was Paul Freeman, but midway through one of the sections I realized what I was doing was pointless (I was already in college, why am I doing this test again?), and said "Fuck this!" (a hearty laugh from everyone involved) and got up to go to the bathroom. The hallway/bathroom looked like my high school, and after taking care of business, I went back to the room where everyone was done taking the test. Apparently the SAT was much shorter than I remember. Then, a bunch of us got in a car to go visit my friends Dan and Hannah. We met them in a parking garage that doubled as a lounge area where lots of people were sitting on couches and eating. We found a spot, ate our lunch, and I marveled at the size of the structure plus all the people around. Later on, my friend Kevin, myself, and some others were sitting around on a porch area not too far away. Kevin was smoking a cigar, and while I searched for something to light, I eventually realized he had one to share. Except when he gave me the cigar, it was broken in half, which prompted me to ask "Are you serious?". He was very serious. After lighting my cigar, I picked up a little puppy nearby, which quickly began to pee as I held in midair. It took us a minute to realize this, and once I put him back down, he was done peeing...and I was done dreaming.

---

The next dream took place in a post-apocalyptic world, I think. My friend Kevin said his sisters Kate and Megan were having a party at their place. I didn't realize at this time that the world was post-apocalyptic, and even the part where we had to climb up a tree and then go INSIDE the tree to get to their place didn't tip me off. Apparently their place was this cool house area under ground, inside of the tree (the tree acted as a chimney). There were tons of people there, having a good time, drinking beers. At one point, somebody knocked over a beer glass that looked like a boot, which seemed to upset a great many people. I tried to help clean it up when suddenly there was an emergency situation to take care of outside. Kevin, myself, and some other people ran outside to where the tree was (it was very dark). We were warned to get back inside, unfortunately I was too slow, so I ran and hid behind the tree. Soon, the tree was under assault from a dozen, purple-glowing geese. They were shooting lasers at the tree, when suddenly a hovering tank came up and shot bazooka shots at them until all the geese were dead. Now the top of the tree was badly damaged, and suddenly a holographic face appeared. This is when I realized the world was post-apocalyptic, and this face was the leader of the world. He was angry because the carbon levels from the tree were "twice what they should be" -- he knew people were living there. The bazooka shooters convinced him it was fine, at least for now. I went back into the tree where the Diehn sisters, Kevin, and their parents were now sitting around, upset that the place had been shot up. I told them that the evil guy was onto them, and we were springing into action when I woke up.

---
My last dream revolved around moving out of the Courtyards, where apparently Kevin and I had two apartments instead of one. After clearing out the first one, I decided to go to a casino for some poker (it must be my upcoming Vegas trip that keeps this theme going). I wasn't doing much until my friend Nate came over to watch after playing a bit, when I got into a pot with some chick who didn't seem to have it all together. I won and left with several hundred dollars, heading back to my other apartment to clear that out. First I stopped off in the apartment of somebody from high school, Meagan. She was busy cleaning up, as was her roommate (who I think was my ex), but I convinced her to come to the casino for a while. It was just across the parking lot. After a quick shower, we went over there, left pretty soon after, and made plans for later ;), while I went to clean out my other apartment. As I walked in, I walked by one of my grad students (didn't know I roomed with him!), and started packing while listening to somebody on the radio talk about Roger Ebert's writing style. I didn't really catch too much of what he was saying, and eventually woke up.

Dream #3 - 8.5.10 - 8.6.10

Last night's dream was a mixture of half baked images, most notably from my friend Cody's wedding (holler!) and from some random casino. First thing I remember is packing up to leave Cody's wedding, but in this case Ryan, Chris, and I were staying in a room shared by 2-3 girls and we had packed all our stuff into their dressers and such. I'm not sure we were packing to leave, but maybe just to go party at Cody's house because we were all wearing our bathing suits. Ryan and Chris were bragging about how that was the only thing they were wearing (way to go guys, that'll impress em), which I found weird since I've always worn boxers + bathing suit (no netting), plus I remember Chris telling me the same. Either way, after a bunch of packing, I suddenly found myself playing poker in a casino with Daniel Negreanu and a grad student from my lab, Aaron. After a couple of hands, I was dealt the 9-8 of spades. We all got into the pot, where the flop came down 8-9-9 (JACKPOT), to which I checked, Daniel checked, Aaron bet, and we both called. Next card was another 9, to which I checked, Daniel bet, Aaron called, I raised, and they both called. Final card was something, I bet, Daniel raised, Aaron raised, and then I went into the tank. It took me a minute to realize I had an unbeatable hand, and I almost folded, but then I raised a bit more all in. Both called. I went to turn over my cards...which were now quarters instead, and one of them flipped over to have both sides as heads. I found the other quarter with the 9 on the tails side for the win, so I had won over $600. Then a lady came over to us and tried to change her "dirty" money with our chips, but some how the deal fell through and it didn't happen.

Eventually I got to Cody's house, where he informs me his brother Harry had gone to the casino to chase "cherries" and find me. I'm not really sure what that meant, but that's about where I remember.

Retro Dream #1

Since I haven't had any dreams of note lately, I'm going to describe a dream I had in the past that I can still remember. This dream is the oldest dream I can remember, I had it sometime in middle school when my friend Jeff still lived down the street from me.

----
My brother and I were hanging out at my friend Jeff's house, which was down the street, along with his sister who was my brother's age. We were outside, and in his yard Jeff has a shed behind some pine trees, which has a bench next to it. Beyond that, at the time of this dream anyway, is a large field that eventually leads to some businesses.

Anyway, in this dream, there was a giant monster chained to the bench near the field. This thing was like a Yeti, except much, much taller. He was roaring and stuff, so naturally all of us fled into Jeff's house. We stayed upstairs in a room where we used to play video games. I think there was a crib in there, which may have been because Jeff's parents just had another kid. Nothing really happened in the dream from then on, we watched the monster chained to this little wooden bench just roaring and occasionally throwing things. I think at some point we went out there to get close to it, but it didn't seem to care about us one bit.

---

It was pretty scary as a kid, and probably one of my first "nightmares." Must be the reason I still remember it, 15 years later.
